A Comparative Study of Chinese EFL Undergraduates’ Pragmatic Competence in English Letter Writing Between Urban and Suburban Universities

In this era of globalization, pragmatic competence plays a vital role in cross-cultural communication. The objective study is to investigate whether location key factor influencing Chinese EFL undergraduates’ English letter writing by comparing urban and suburban universities. This adopted descriptive research design. samples the were 450 college students, with 225 from university located an city (Guangzhou) another (Yiyang). All participants took test their writings analyzed perspectives choice vocabulary, grammar, syntax organization. findings quantitative data indicated that overall students was better than university.
